Caedmon's Birthday Party

When we started thinking about Caedmon's 1st Birthday, we knew we wanted to have a party. Not a big party. But a laid-back backyard party with our immediate family and Caedmon's close friends. Then, we realized that Caedmon's birthday was going to be while we were in Roanoke. Was it worth it to drive all the way back to our house? Not really. So, our dear friends, the Sinks, were gracious enough to host our backyard birthday party in their backyard. The weather was beautiful (some said a tad chilly), but definitely doable for an outside party.

Below is the food table. We served a lite lunch--chicken tenders, tots, fruit, veggies, etc...

After lunch, some playtime, and opening presents, it was time for what seemed like the main event. He wasn't quite sure what to think at first....he poked the cupcake a couple times, and took a little taste and then he went to town. By this point he was exhausted (it was 1:30, he'd woken up at 8 and hadn't napped all day). He ate it slowly (not like he usually eats when he acts like he's afraid his food will be taken away)...but he ate the entire thing!

It was a wonderful day to celebrate our baby who is turning into such a little boy. He is a JOY to be around, still so giggly and fun. He still loves his books, loves eating, and loves people. He is extra-loving his daddy lately, but is being more snuggly with mommy than usual...so it's been especially great lately for us all. He's still cruising all over the place and being a speed-racer crawler; he's getting more confident walking while holding our hand. He's definitely getting more of an opinion and shares it with us to the best of his ability. When he's hungry for a snack, he goes to his chair. He holds our hands when we pray and sometimes even bows his head. We pray that God continues to work to give him a heart for Jesus. And we pray that we will walk with God, being an example to Caedmon of people who daily need and receive grace. We love you Caedmon!
