What we've been up to...

We've just been hanging out, enjoying life with 2 kids! They are both so much fun, each in their own ways.

Ansley is doing great! We've not been getting too much sleep at night, but I guess that's to be expected with a newborn! She had been waking up every 45 min-1 hour and occasionally sleeping for 2 hours at night...but then I figured out that she may have a minor case of reflux and has been sleeping so much better (now in her inclined bouncy seat set in her crib). Last night she did sleep for a stretch of almost 5 hours. She was losing a lot of weight at first (we had to get her weighed daily for that 1st week bc she's lost over a pound in her first 3-4 days!) but as of last Friday she's up to 8 lbs 15 oz (more than her birthweight), so no more worries. She is so laid back and content. She cries pretty much only when she's hungry or poopy. She's also very easily consoled on the rare occasions she is upset. She's having much more "awake" time and has begun to really study faces, her mobile, etc.

Caedmon has been such a JOY lately (as usual)! He's begun to *occasionally* attempt to assert his opinions and try for independence. We've been learning a lot about patience, firmness, and follow through. Things like going to naptime and diaper changes are sometimes a challenge, yet Caedmon (usually) walks obediently (and we're working on the joyful part of that obedience) holding our hand to where he needs to be. He absolutely loves Ansley, giving her hugs and kisses throughout the day and often just stopping what he's doing to look at her, point, and squeal. Caedmon has been talking up a storm and has really begun to show us he understands so much more! He's saying quite a few more words (important things like "ice" and "cheers") and he knows some animal sounds.

Dan's been working a lot and is actually going out of town soon to go get Gracie. She's been in AL since January so we could all stay in Roanoke for police academy and while we adjusted to life with Ansley. I'm VERY nervous for her to return and am praying that she's content outside bc I don't think I can juggle the 3 of them (dog + toddler + newborn) at once! My kids and my sanity (and naps) are my priorities during the day, not the dog!
